Bloomington Public Library maintains a collection of self- and independently-published books by local authors who reside within McLean County, IL. If you’d like to donate a copy of your book, complete this form, including confirmation of the details listed here:
- You may donate one copy of your book. This becomes property of the Library.
(If you are completing this form online, please provide the library with a physical copy of your book within two weeks. If two weeks pass without receipt of your work, the application will be denied.) - Books in this collection will be maintained for a minimum of six months. After that, they may be removed from the collection.
- The library will accept physical copies of fully bound books. Books will not be accepted if they’re stapled or spiral-bound.
- Illustrations/images need to be of professional quality.
- The book’s content must be appropriate for a public library collection: not having excessive spelling or grammatical errors and not serving as an advertisement for businesses/services/ other entities or for political parties/candidates.
- The McLean County Author Collection coordinator reserves the right to determine what is appropriate for the collection.
- Labels and identification stamps will be added to the book to indicate that it is part of the Library’s collection. At a minimum, catalog records for these books will contain the author, title, and publication year.
- For books that have been professionally published and/or have received professional reviews, the process outlined in the Library’s Collection Development Policy will be followed.
