LIBRARY CLOSURE - May 20-23

Bloomington Library will be CLOSED Monday-Thursday, May 20-23.

The Bookmobile will make its stops during these closures. The Bookmobile schedule is available at bit.ly/bookmobileschedule.

  • Monday’s English Conversation Group will meet at STAR Literacy (201 E. Grove St.)
  • Tuesday’s Fiction Book Club will meet online via Zoom. Visit bit.ly/fiction521 to register for this program and receive the Zoom link.

This closure will allow us to continue to unbox 107,000 books (which were moved to storage when our construction project began) and to shelve 262,000 books. Some collections and areas of the library will not be available until the library reopens on Friday, May 24.

During open hours leading up to the closure, call 309.590.6120 or text 309.446.8398 with questions.

Book Shop

Located on the first floor of the library -- past the elevator and extending under the stairs -- is Bloomington Public Library’s Book Shop.

For sale in this area are used books, audiobooks, DVDs, blu-ray discs, and CDs. Items for sale include materials donated by the public, as well as materials discarded from the library’s collection. Most items cost $1-$6. A color-coded sticker on each item in the shop indicates the item’s price.

To purchase items from the Book Shop, take them to the Check-Out Desk on the library’s first floor or the Help Desk on the library’s second floor.

Construction of the Book Shop area was generously sponsored by The Rotary Clubs of Bloomington & Normal.

Donating Items to the Book Shop

Staff at the Check Out Desk will accept small donations (i.e., a bag or a box of items) to be sold in the library’s Book Shop. Those with larger donations are asked to complete the form below to coordinate drop off with the library’s Book Shop Coordinator.

The library does not accept textbooks and tech books older than 3 years, encyclopedias, dictionaries, and anything wet, yellowed, or damaged.

Staff will make the final determination as to whether donated materials will be sold in the Book Shop. Proceeds from Book Shop sales benefit Bloomington Public Library.

After completing the form, you will be contacted by library staff to set up a time to make your donation.
