Spring Break Program: My Museum
Bloomington Public Library is partnering with the McLean County Museum of History to present My Museum, a program which aims to help children learn about museums. During the program, children will participate in activities and discussions about museums and exhibits based on the books, A Girl in a Museum World by Tellie Simpson and Milo's Museum by Zetta Elliot. Children will be encouraged to create their own self-portraits and have the opportunity to explore curation by learning to create object labels and labeling personal items that tell their story. We encourage each child to bring with them up to three small personal items (ex. favorite picture, souvenir, or toy) for labeling. Staff will take pictures of each child's exhibits and all personal items will be returned to their owners at the end of the program. Pictures may be shared via the library's social media channels and the museum's social media channels.
During the registration window for this program, registration can be completed online below, by calling 309.590.6155, or in person at the Children's Services Desk at the Library. As soon as registration is complete, you will receive a confirmation email.
Note: This program will take place in the Courtroom at the McLean County Museum of History (200 N. Main St.). Museum entry is FREE on Tuesdays. Masks are recommended but are not required. Please note that parking may be limited.
