Program Description
Spring Break Program: 2 Hours Outside (Party)
Spend up to two hours outside and log those hours onto your 1000-Hours-Outside Tracker (or start your tracker at this event)! This outdoor party will take place near the pavilion at Miller Park and will include games, crafts, snacks, giveaways, and -- of course -- books to read or check out.
At 10:30am, The Ecology Action Center will offer a recycling program! Their program will include reading One Plastic Bag: Isatou Ceesay and the Recycling Women of the Gambia by Miranda Paul. The book shares the story of five women who, despite ridicule and a lack of resources, creatively deal with their village’s plastic trash problem by giving local women economic empowerment through their recycled plastic purse project. This picture book tells the inspirational true story of how one person’s voice and actions really can make a difference in our world. Additionally, to remind children of what they learned that day, we will make bracelets out of plastic bags.
In the case of inclement weather, the party would move indoors to the Miller Park Pavilion. This is an event for the whole family. We hope to see you during Spring Break!
