ChildProgram Description
Bloomington Public Library is partnering with the McLean County Museum of History to present My Museum, a virtual program helping children learn about museums. During the program, children will participate in activities and discussions about museums and exhibits based on the books, A Girl in a Museum World by Tellie Simpson and Milo's Museum by Zetta Elliot. Children will be encouraged to create their own self-portrait and have the opportunity to explore curation by gathering and labeling personal items that tell their story.
During the registration window for this program, registration can be completed online below, by calling 309.590.6155, or in person at the Children's Services Desk at the Library. As soon as registration is complete, you will receive an email with a link to this online program.
Note: This program is suitable for children ages 3-11 years. Children under the age of 5 years may need adult assistance and supervision throughout the program.
Please answer the custom question on the registration form as this program is limited to 20 families. Kits for this program will be available for registrants to pick up from Tuesday, December 6, through Tuesday, December 20. When available, kits can be picked up from the Children's Services Desk at the library or from the front desk at the McLean County Museum of History (200 North Main Street, Bloomington) during regular hours.
We encourage participants to share pictures of their completed self-portraits and exhibits by emailing pictures to alyshaj@bloomingtonlibrary.org or emccusker@mchistory.org.
