Program Description

During this life-saving training session attendees will learn how to recognize the warning signs of suicide and take action. Led by Sonja Workman from the McLean County Center for Human Services, this training will equip you with the three simple yet powerful steps of QPR — Question, Persuade, Refer — to help those at risk of suicide.

Attendees will learn how to approach someone who may be suicidal, how to get help for themself or others, and how to support individuals in crisis. Participants will also gain a deeper understanding of the common causes and warning signs of suicide.

Everyone can make a difference in suicide prevention. Don’t miss this important opportunity to learn how you can help save lives.

Registration is preferred but not required and can be completed below. You may also register by calling 309.590.6168 or by visiting the Help Desk at the Library and registering in person.

Hearing Device Assistance

To accommodate hard-of-hearing patrons, the library offers the use of assistive listening devices in each Community Room and in each Children’s Program Room. For these devices to work, the presenter must use the room’s sound system. For the clearest sound, make sure the device is unobstructed by clothing or jewelry and sit in the first few rows.
If you experience connectivity issues, please let a staff member know. A guide on using the assistive listening devices is available.
