Open Volunteer Position
Position Title: Fiber Arts for Kids (Ages 8-11) Department: Children Services
We are looking for several energetic and creative adults (18 years or older) to volunteer as assistants during Fiber Arts for Kids afterschool maker space. If you like to be crafty, work with elementary kids, and have dabbled in or have experience with fiber projects this may be the perfect volunteer opportunity for you!
Ability to provide friendly and courteous service to children ages 8-11 in a variety of skill levels
Ability to clearly communicate in the English language
Ability to use craft tools and work with a variety of craft materials such as scissors, needles, hooks, canvas, yarn and fabric.
Ability to encourage self-expression and creativity in children
Ability to be available from 3:45pm-5:45pm at least 4 or more sessions (see dates below)
Volunteers are needed in the Library’s Story Room on these dates and times:
Tuesdays, January 15 and 29, February 12 and 26
Thursdays, March 7 and 28 (Spring Break same time), April 11 and 25
3:45pm-5:45pm in the Story Room

Fiber Arts for Kids (Ages 8-11)
Join us in exploring the wonderful world of fiber. Each time we meet, new uses of fiber will be demonstrated such as needle work, rug making, weaving, macramé, etc. You may bring an ongoing fiber project with supplies to work on in class. If you have made a fiber project you may bring it for the “Show-and-Tell” table. The library will provide a variety of tools and craft supplies for class use. Caregiver must sign in student no earlier than 4pm in the Story Room and sign-out student no later than 5:30pm.
Parents: Due to allergies, wool fiber will not be permitted to be used in class. However, a finished project in a closed, clear plastic bag can be displayed on the “Show and Tell” table.
